Know the kind of ride you are choosing

Phoenix Park has cycle trails as well as roads, junctions and crossings. Some sections share space with traffic. Follow current signs, use suitable cycle routes and give pedestrians plenty of room.

Our proposed tour is for people who can cycle independently, control their speed and stop confidently. The final distance, terrain and suitability guidance will be provided before booking opens.

A manageable two-hour visit

For an independent visit, choose a small cluster of landmarks and allow time to return, rather than aiming to see the entire park. Bike collection, fitting and stops all need a place in your plan.

A guided ride adds the stories that connect the places. Our proposed two-hour tour is being refined around realistic group timing; the confirmed distance and complete meeting-to-return schedule will appear with the first dates.

Bring comfortable layers

Dublin’s weather can change during a ride. Comfortable clothing and a light waterproof layer are practical choices. Bring water, secure any loose items and choose shoes you can cycle in comfortably. Equipment inclusions for the tour will be confirmed at launch.

Leave room for the return journey

The park covers over 700 hectares. A landmark that looks close on a map may still need a worthwhile ride to reach. If hiring a bicycle, check where and when it must be returned before planning your route.

Share the park with care

Keep your speed appropriate to the space and conditions. Slow down near pedestrians, crossings and animals. If you stop for a story or a photograph, leave the path clear for other users.

Enjoy the fallow deer from at least 50 metres away and let them find their own food. Giving them space to graze naturally makes for a lovely wildlife encounter.

For a smooth visit, check the current OPW road and gate information and follow the signs on the day. Your guide will choose a route that suits access, weather and the group.
